All Club Members are welcome whether you are having your first try or doing final race prep for an international event, there’s something for you all.
A series of training triathlons of varying distance which provide great transition and brick training with that competitive element. You can turn up and compete in the odd Summer Series race but if you compete in sufficient events and score highly enough then you could be crowned ladies or mens DTC Summer Series Champion.
If you are new to triathlon then this is the way to learn how to race. The first practice event will be particularly aimed at those new to triathlon and new to the summer series. So if you’re a bit unsure please come along. We hope to have one of the coaches to talk and walk you through the whole thing.
Unfortunately these training sessions are only open to Club Members.
These are practice events and the routes are not marked either with directions or ‘Caution Cyclist’ signs therefore you must be careful and learn the routes.
To ensure the success and safety of the Summer Series ideally 3 people are required to be timekeepers and marshals. The rota and signup of helpers can be found by clicking here. If you are thinking of taking part in the summer series please also volunteer to marshal.
Should we have insufficient marshals to ensure the safety of the training then someone who was expecting to take part will have to help out. We expect that anyone wanting to be eligible for the club trophies will have helped out in some capacity.
The cost of each summer series event will be £4.
These are training events. While there are life guards at the swimming pool and safety marshals at the open water, you are entirely responsible for your own safety while riding and running. You must complete a disclaimer (same one for time trial & open water) before taking part.

No disclaimer no race.
There will be a male and female competition. Points will be awarded: 20 for 1st, through to 1 for the 20th finisher. Your best 4 results (not including the handicap) will count to your final score. At the end of the series the male and female with the highest score will win. If there should be two or more people with the same score then the champion will be determined by who won the most head to head encounters. If this fails to find a winner the results of a 5th race will be included.
The Summer Series takes place over five defined courses. A, B, C, D and E
For the A, B and C courses (pool based events), transition is located in the car park near the swimming pool at Etwall leisure centre and the bike and run legs will start and finish here.
Click on the route distance in the table to see the route map (please note the bike routes have not yet been updated with the new transition location but the route is correct).
The D and E courses will be based at our open water swimming venue at Barton Marina, the transition area being the first car park as you enter the complex.

In order to clear the pool quickly for the Juniors to use the pool, the races will need to start promptly at 19:00 with a race briefing at 18:55 so please get here early and ensure your kit is setup before 18:45.
Registration will close at 18:50.
The D & E course races will start at 09:00, with the briefing at 08:55.
