Winter Racing 2011-12
Although the triathlon season is officially over DTC like to remain active during the winter months. We have the Club's Winter Series and Saturday bike rides to keep us busy but a little bit of external competition and events help to spice up those long, dark cold days!

Winter Target Races
Some events have been identified that have either proved popular over the years to DTC Members or have gained the interst of several members. by actively promoting these as winter target races hopefully means there will be lots of friendly faces about.
Dovedale Dash - 6th November 2011
The Dovedale Dash is a cross country race of 4¾ miles, run by about 1200 people of all abilities. The venue is the picturesque area around the village of Thorpe and Dovedale in the south of the Derbyshire Peak District. The course is mainly along field paths and open ground in the valleys of the rivers Dove and Manifold. There are short stretches along tarmac and there is some stony ground. One of the excitements is the crossing of the river Dove at the well known Stepping-Stones.
This race is a bit mad but more fun for it, now a local institution. DTC always has representations there and you can enter on the day. The race has only been cancelled once...it generally goes ahead, whatever the weather !
Sign up on the day 9.00am. Race starts 11.00am .

Tour of the Peaks - October 2012
Covering some of the same staggering roads as the race of the same name, this Tour is set in the lovely Peak District shared by Derbyshire, Cheshire and West Yorkshire. They say it's tough up North and this ride proves the point. Starting from High Peak's flagship leisure facility in Chapel-en-le-Frith, the cyclosportive might be new but the Tour of the Peak cycle race has been one of the most long running major races in the UK. We know where most of the best roads are in the Peaks. How? Because, this is our local patch! Run on the Saturday, the following day you can lie in as the clocks switch back to monsoon mode.
This event is really tough especially if the weather is poor. Dont enter on a whim ! If you are not sure, ask if you need advice on gears, feeding stations etc.
