Please do not swim at Barton Marina until the organised swims are set up with safety cover.

Important

• You will not be allowed to enter the water unless you have read the code of conduct and read and signed the declaration form at the bottom of this page.

• Swimmers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times - both in and out of the water.

• Please ensure you wear a brightly coloured hat (but not white) whilst swimming.  White hats are reserved for swimmers invloved in coached sessions.

• Please ensure you swim counterclockwise keeping the orange bouys on your left. Only swimmers in coached session can use the coaching loop which includes the non-orange buoy.

Until the end of September 2011 – no swimming is allowed at any other time without the owner’s permission.

Lake Location
As you enter Barton Marina the small lake is immediately on the right hand side where there is also a small car park.

Marshals
For every session we need at least two marshals at all times for it to run. One of these will act as the Water Safety Officer to check people in and out of the water and the other will need to be located on the other side of the island to keep an eye out for anyone in trouble. The club is hoping to provide lifeguard and/or canoeist cover at as many sessions as possible but there is still a need for help. On Saturdays we have split the sessions to the first hour and second hour to allow members to swim for one hour and marshal for the other. For every session you marshal we will allow you one free swim. The marshal rota is here, please email chairman@derbytriathlonclub.co.uk if you are able to help.

Parking
Parking is free within the onsite car parks.  There is a small car park adjacent to the small lake.  If this is full please use the main car park.  No parking is permitted on the road.

Cost

• £3 – Derby Triathlon Club members
• £5 – Non Club members

Facilities
There are no changing facilities, please try to come changed.  If you get changed by your car please respect that this site is open to the general public.  The Club shelter will be available to leave your kit in and provide some privacy in which to get changed.  Any belongings are left in the shelter at your own risk.

Toilets
There are public toilets at the far end of the marina complex but close at 17:30.

Food and drink
Within the Marina complex there is a pub and a coffee shop.

The Apple Tree Coffee Shop And Delicatessen open 09:00-17:00 every day               

Waterfront pub open from 10:00 every day

Registration
Registration will be located on the south side of the lake where, unless they are at races, the DTC flags will be flying.  Please give your completed and signed declaration form to the Safety Officer, if you have not done so already, and pay your subs.  Please ensure you sign in and out every time you enter and exit the water.
